Roger Bausier is an exceptionally talented musician, full of energy and irrepressible enthusiasm.

He established his reputation as a virtuoso performer during a long and distinguished career as principal trombone with the Grand Orchestre de la Musique Royale des Guides, Belgium’s premier military band. He also distinguished himself as guest soloist with Belgium’s other top orchestras, such as the Belgian National Orchestra, the Belgian Radio and Television Orchestra and the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie (Belgium’s national opera).

A devotee of chamber music, Roger Bausier has performed with several leading brass ensembles, the most notable being Charles Koenig’s Ensemble Polyphonie, Francois Glorieux’s Brass and Percussion, and the Brussels Trombone Quartet which he founded.

With more than a hundred recordings to his credit, he has performed in major concert venues throughout the world. Since 1968, Roger Bausier has taught trombone and chamber music in various academies and institutes, including l’IMEP in Namur, the Royal Mons Conservatoire and currently the Royal Brussels Conservatoire.

Roger Bausier has conducted a wide range of ensembles. In 1996, he founded and directed the Brussels Conservatoire’s brass and percussion ensemble with which he has given several concerts in Belgium and abroad (including Turkey, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and France). In 2002 together with Clare Roberts and Antonio Vilardi, he was involved in setting up the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra, in residence at the Théâtre Saint-Michel, as Musical Director and Conductor.

Since then, he has given many concerts at this Theatre and in other prestigious venues such as the Palais des Beaux-Arts and the Conservatoire in Brussels as well as the Palais des Congrès in Paris and the Nouveau Siècle in Lille.

In addition to mainstream repertoire, Roger Bausier has been involved in premiering contemporary Belgian works such as “Plaidoirie” by Paul-Baudhuin Michel in February 2003, Robert Janssens’ piano concerto which was performed for the first time in November 2004 for International Children’s Rights Day by young pianist Alexander Vaguener. In 2005, during the 100th Anniversary of the Collège Saint-Michel, Roger Bausier conducted a world premier of Barrabas by Antonio Vilardi. In March 2008, he conducted Prima del Viaggio by Antonio Vilardi and Cinema, Cinema by Roberto Fabbriciani.

Most recently, his style and talent have brought him wide acclaim as head of the Hacettepe Symphony Orchestra of Ankara and the Qingdao Symphony Orchestra in China; he conducted the latter of the two in during a live televised concert on 30th December 2006.
In 2007, he was also guest conductor of the Hacettepe Symphony Orchestra of Ankara and the Izmir Chamber Orchestra in Turkey.
